Trinity Industries Inc has struck a $56 million class-action settlement with Missouri counties over accusations that it failed to disclose design changes to a road and highway guardrail system that made it unsafe and excessively hazardous.
Plaintiffs’ lawyers call it the first successful resolution of claims by government entities. They were seeking to recoup the costs of replacing Trinity’s ET-Plus guardrails.
Dallas-based Trinity did not admit wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
