
According to Russian news agency TASS, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree authorizing the payment of 5 million roubles ($81,500) to the families of each soldier of Russia’s National Guard who died in Ukraine and Syria.
It should be recalled that in February 2015 also that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a one-time payment of 7,000 rubles ($115) to World War II veterans.
The payment was made between April and May as part of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, in which an estimated 11 million Soviet citizens died then.
Residents of Russia, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania who were held in Nazi concentration camps were given the money.
