VinFast, a Vietnamese automaker, began delivering its first batch of 100 all-electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) to local consumers on Saturday, with U.S. Vehicle deliveries expected to begin as early as December.
VinFast, which began operations in 2019, is preparing to grow in the United States, where it intends to compete with legacy automakers and startups with its two all-electric SUVs, the VF8 and VF9, as well as battery leasing to lower the purchase price.
“Mass production will begin next week,” Le Thi Thu Thuy, worldwide chief executive of VinFast, discloses on the sidelines of a delivery ceremony at the company’s factory in Vietnam’s northern province of Haiphong.
VinFast, a division of Vingroup JSC, will begin delivering automobiles internationally in November, with clients receiving cars as early as December, according to Thuy.
The business has received about 65,000 reservations throughout the world and plans to sell 750,000 EVs per year by 2026, beginning with the VF8 and VF9 all-electric SUVs.
VinFast announced in March that it will construct a manufacturing factory in North Carolina with an initial capacity of 150,000 EVs per year. Nguyen Khac Chung was one of the first local clients to get their vehicles at Saturday’s ceremony.
The VF8 and VF9 cars will cost $42,200 and $57,500 in the United States, respectively U. S. clients, less the cost of leasing the electric battery.
