Dacia, the low-cost flagship of French carmaker Renault, said it plans to stick with gasoline engines as long as possible and help drivers reluctant to switch to electric motors, Prime Minister Denis Le Vaud said in an interview.
While Renault plans to go all-electric in 2030, Dacia can easily make the big leap by 2035, when fossil gas engines are banned in Europe. “Renault will strive to become the champion of electric motors, which is a risk,” Le Vot said on the sidelines of the launch in Le Bourget, near Paris.
While Dacia continues to bet on small engines that run on fossil fuels and LPG, which account for a third of the brand’s sales, Dacia plans to offer its first hybrid model in 2023. To return, Renault will reveal its plan to create separate divisions this fall. for electric and internal combustion engine vehicles.
