
Shah Rukh Khan’s latest blockbuster, “Pathaan,” has broken box office records with a staggering $41.7 million gross collection on just its third day of release. The film has already surpassed the $40 million mark at the box office, making it the biggest all-time opening in India and overseas.
According to data provided by production house Yash Raj Films, “Pathaan” raked in $12.7 million from India on Friday, despite it being a working day. The film’s gross box-office collections now stand at a staggering $42 million, with $26.5 million from India and $15.5 million from overseas.
Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani stated, “It is incredible that ‘Pathaan’ has registered the biggest all-time opening in India and overseas, considering the collections of the film in the first three days of release, which is dubbed the opening weekend for any film. ‘Pathaan’ has been blessed by Indians across the globe and what is happening with this film is unprecedented and historic.”
In addition to breaking records for its opening weekend, “Pathaan” is also the quickest among Hindi films to breach the $40 million mark worldwide. It is the first Hindi film to collect more than $40 million on its opening weekend.
According to producer and film business expert Girish Johar, the film’s collection is expected to see a significant boost over the weekend. “I have already revised my expectation from a $40 million weekend grosser to now a $53 million,” he said.
